AI, Sources & Editorial Transparency

Our purpose and editorial responsibility

Truth in Focus exists to give people a voice, explain information that affects their lives, and help readers draw informed conclusions for themselves. We distinguish original reporting, clearly labeled opinion, outside reporting, public records, and submitted material. The responsibility for what we publish remains with our human editor, not with a software tool.

What we mean by Bullcoming AI

Bullcoming AI is the name we use for an internal, developing research and organizational workflow. AI tools may assist with finding questions to investigate, organizing documents, comparing versions of a resolution, building source checklists, drafting working summaries, transcription, editing, and preparing items for editorial review. AI is not a replacement for thinking, original reporting, writing judgment, or independently examining the evidence. Not every proposed capability of our command center has been completed or automated.

How claims are checked

We review relevant original documents, identify issuing authorities and dates, compare passages in context, check material quotations and claims against sources when reasonably possible, and seek a fair opportunity for response where appropriate. Contradictory or incomplete records are identified as such. AI-generated text or summaries are never treated as proof that a claim is accurate, and source authenticity cannot be established solely by software.

Imported material and items prepared with AI remain unpublished until a person reviews and explicitly approves them. A source’s silence is not evidence of wrongdoing. Our reporting may take longer when the evidence is incomplete, when resolutions require careful comparison, or when relevant parties have not yet responded.

Outside news, public briefs, and community contributions

Truth in Focus may consult publicly available reporting, agency releases, press materials, and other lawful news sources. We identify and link to those sources, add verified local context when possible, and do not present another publication’s reporting as our own original work. Being freely accessible does not automatically make outside content free to republish in full.

Readers are invited to submit questions, corrections, opinion pieces, documents, and firsthand accounts. Opinions are labeled; submitted factual allegations undergo review for evidence, fairness, privacy, and appropriate opportunities for response before publication. We may edit for clarity and accuracy while preserving a contributor’s meaning and obtaining any needed permission.

Transparency, corrections, and accountability

We disclose material AI involvement when it would help readers understand how specific coverage was produced. Human editors remain responsible for corrections, source protection, attribution, and publication decisions. Readers can consult our Code of Ethics, Editorial Independence Policy, and Corrections & Revision Policy or contact the newsroom with questions.
