Over the coming months and into 2027, Truth in Focus will continue examining issues affecting our communities throughout Rosebud County, Eastern Montana, rural America, and Indian Country. Some of these conversations may be uncomfortable. We will ask questions about government, public spending, education, healthcare, tribal sovereignty, and matters that too often go unreported. I’ve always believed that sometimes truth is uncomfortable, but that doesn’t make it any less important.
In small communities, our families, relationships, and institutions are often interconnected. That makes independent, fair, and responsible reporting especially important. Our purpose isn’t to attack individuals or create division. It’s to ask questions, examine records, hear different perspectives, and help people understand what’s happening around them. We’ve encountered unanswered records requests and have turned to state and federal sources for additional information. We believe the public deserves clear answers.
We also believe information should be understandable. Laws, policies, government records, and public decisions shouldn’t require a legal degree to understand. That’s why we’re committed to explaining complicated subjects in plain English, without talking down to anyone. Knowledge should be accessible, and our reporting will remain free, without paywalls.
Supporting Truth in Focus doesn’t always mean donating money. Sharing our articles, telling others about us, providing information, and participating in respectful conversations are equally meaningful. Financial contributions, when available, help cover records requests, website expenses, and reaching more readers.
Ultimately, we’re building something bigger than one person or one moment in time. My hope is that Truth in Focus will continue serving this community long after its founders retire.
