LAME DEER, Mont. – A short video recorded inside the Little Wolf Capitol Building, together with an eyewitness account from Truth in Focus publisher Steven Bullcoming Haworth, adds context to questions surrounding the building’s closure and events inside the tribal government complex.
Haworth was physically present in the building that day while reporting and asking questions. During the period he was there, he said he did not observe an assault.
What the video shows
Truth in Focus reviewed an approximately 27-second video from inside the building. No assault is visibly shown during that recorded segment.
That does not establish what may or may not have occurred outside the video’s limited time and field of view. Truth in Focus is reporting only what can be seen in the recording and what Haworth personally observed while he was present.
The closure memo
An October 1 memorandum stated that the Tribal Council had removed President Gene Small, identified Ernest Littlemouth as interim tribal president, and directed emergency leave and closure of the Little Wolf Capitol Building.
The memorandum documents what its author directed and asserted. By itself, it does not resolve the separate legal questions surrounding the removal, succession, notice, or authority that remain disputed.
Questions about services
Some tribal programs continued operating during the closure while questions remained about access to the building and normal administrative functions. Truth in Focus is seeking records showing which services were affected, what legal or funding requirements governed continued operations, and how check processing and other administrative work were handled.
Truth in Focus will update this report if additional video, incident records, official documentation, or on-the-record statements materially change what the available record shows.
