LAME DEER, Mont. — Truth in Focus has received a firsthand account from a confidential source who says they were personally approached about paid security work connected to the current Northern Cheyenne government dispute.
The source told Truth in Focus that compensation of $500 per day was discussed. Truth in Focus is withholding identifying details to protect the source’s identity.
The source’s account is firsthand: the person says the approach was made directly to them. However, Truth in Focus has not independently verified that any payment was made, has not obtained a written contract or payment authorization, and has not yet established what funding source would be used.
Truth in Focus seeks records and response
Truth in Focus has contacted Northern Cheyenne leadership seeking clarification about the reported security work and the $500-per-day figure. The newsroom has asked who authorized any such work, how it would be funded, whether there is a written contract or other payment authorization, and what duties the security assignment would involve.
At publication time, Truth in Focus had not independently verified that any payment was made or identified a funding source. The $500 figure is therefore being reported as part of the confidential source’s firsthand account, not as an established payment record.
If tribal officials provide records or additional context, Truth in Focus will update the report.
