NEWSROOM NOTICE | October 17, 2026

ASHLAND, Montana — Truth in Focus is inviting people running for Northern Cheyenne elected office in the 2026 election cycle to participate in short, independently presented candidate profiles. The goal is straightforward: give readers an opportunity to hear directly from candidates, compare their stated priorities, and ask informed questions.

The publication will not reproduce campaign advertisements as ordinary news coverage, endorse candidates through its reporting, or promise favorable treatment in exchange for an interview, advertising, or other support. Editorial decisions remain separate from personal relationships and campaign activity.

Questions for candidates

Each participating candidate will be offered the same core questions:

  1. What office are you seeking, and why do you want to serve? What experience or perspective would you bring to the position?
  2. What are the two most important issues you believe the community faces? What specific steps would you pursue within the powers of the office, and how should residents measure progress?
  3. How would you keep voters informed and hold yourself accountable? Describe how you would approach public meetings, spending decisions, access to records, and disagreement with community members.

Responses will be attributed to the candidate, with the date received. Profiles may be published separately as replies arrive, with each candidate given comparable space and the same editorial standards. Factual claims may be checked or accompanied by context. Candidates may decline to participate; a missing response will not be presented as agreement, opposition, or evidence of wrongdoing.

Candidate photographs and campaign materials

Candidates may submit a portrait photograph they have the right to authorize for publication, along with the photographer or source credit. An image supplied by a candidate or campaign will be identified as such. A candidate-supplied photograph does not indicate editorial support. Campaign graphics or flyers will not automatically be republished as news; submitted materials may instead be reviewed as sources and clearly attributed when relevant.

How to participate

Candidates or their representatives may use the Truth in Focus contact and submission page to identify the office sought and provide responses, contact details for verification, and any authorized photograph. The invitation is open to candidates across the election, not limited to those already in contact with the newsroom.

Truth in Focus aims to serve readers with accurate, fair, transparent and records-based coverage. Readers can also consult our editorial independence policy and existing election coverage.
