October 13, 2026. Truth in Focus has continued gathering records, following up with tribal officials and community contacts, and reviewing questions involving Northern Cheyenne government operations, voter information and public accountability.
Two reports published today address how eligible tribal members can obtain absentee-voting information and a statement issued by President Gene Small concerning reported disruptions to tribal services and vendor payments.
Truth in Focus has received acknowledgments and responses to some inquiries. Alicia Cano confirmed receiving an absentee-voting question and indicated that she would respond. The newsroom has also requested information from the Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council, President Gene Small, and Stevenson & Sons Funeral Homes on the reported service and payment concerns. Substantive responses to those latest questions were pending when this update was prepared.
Other reporting continues on public meetings, government records and procurement questions, including the Trustland Consultants contract. We are distinguishing recorded statements, documented decisions, firsthand accounts and allegations; a claim in a statement does not by itself establish that the claim is true.
Our priority is to publish useful verified information and explain what remains unknown. Truth in Focus is an independent, digital-first local publication and does not speak for the Northern Cheyenne Tribe or any government office.
